Updates on Infrastructure Projects

Minglanilla Reclamation Project

There has been no sign of any construction or reclamation in the coastal communities of
Barangays Calajoan, Tungkil and Tulay which are going to be affected by the already approved
100 – hectare Minglanilla Reclamation Project.

Soil testing of the seas fronting the three barangays was done in June to August 2022
using four big machines to get soil and having it analyzed in a laboratory in Lower Calajoan. This
was the last visible activity in the project

Although officials of the developer, the Ming-mori Development Corporation had
publicly announced that the reclamation project will start on January 2022, until now, it has not
started yet.

An update is that the project was recently approved by the Cebu Provincial Board (PB)
which is composed of elected legislative councilors of Cebu Province. The approval was in the
form of a resolution made by the PB’s regular session on March 6, 2023
