Tungkop Women’s Organization gets donations from Rotary Club

The Tungkop Women’s Organization (TWO) was the recipient of fabric materials for their livelihood program, donated by the Rotary Club of Banilad Metro.

It was the first economic and community development project of the Rotary Club.  The project is in collaboration with the Uratex Foundation headed by Robert G. Cheng.

The donation was done in the Tungkop Covered Court in Tungkop, Minglanilla on July 16, 2022. There was also a training of sewers who are members of the TWO.

During the activity, the sewers used sewing machines to sew rugs and pot holders from the donated fabrics which were donated in huge bundles.

The TWO has long been having a livelihood project which included weaving of wallets, sling bags, laptop bags, pouches and mats  from recycled used sacks of animal feeds and rice grains and sewing of rugs,  pot holders and knap sacks from fabrics.  They have sold hundreds of these accessories and bags over the past years.  Their products are also displayed during the National Women’s Month Celebration every March in the town plaza of the Municipality of Minglanilla.

These finished products were also displayed in the Tungkop covered court during the activity on July 16, 2022.
