Livelihood projects of the women’s organizations

The women’s organizations in Minglanilla have pursued their rice retailing business through their livelihood committees.

An organization would purchase 10 sacks, place in their barangay covered court on a scheduled date and the customers who are mostly the members would go and buy an average 15 kilos per purchase. A profit of P 615 profit per sack was expected.The profit would be distributed to the members in December 2023 and would be used to aid sick members.

The Calajoan Women’s Organization has also pursued the detergent powder business with capital from kind individuals solicited by the Social Work interns of the University of Southern Philippiens – Foundation doing their community internship there.

The Tungkop Women’s Organization was able to secure a grant from the Community Empowerment Resource Network (CERNET) for its committee on livelihood to set up a retail cooperative store. It also set up a communal gardening where vegetables were planted in a 50 square meter of unused donated private land. Vegetables of eggplants, lemon grass, bitter gourd, Malabar spinach and green pepper will be harvested this September. The vegetables will be sold by the organization and profits will be given to the organization.

The Tungkop Women’s Organization is also continuing with its livelihood project of producing bags and pouches from recycled laminated sacks and pillowcases, knapsacks and rugs from cloth remnants.
