Leadership trainings held

Leadership seminars were held last November and December 2021 for the women’s organizations in order to enhance the knowledge of their leaders on leadership.

Topics included the meaning of leadership, the characteristics of good leaders,  principles of good collective leadership, how to prepare and conduct meetings and the different types of meetings. Project coordinator Dr. Erlinda Posadas was the resource person.

Other topics included planning, that is, the importance of planning in an organization in order to achieve the goals and activities decided upon by the organization in a systematic and effective manner, the principles in planning based on concrete existing situations, and how to come up with goals that are specific, measurable, achievable,  relevant and time-bound.  Other aspects of leadership including evaluation, budgeting, reporting and recording were also discussed.

Following the talk on the aspects of leadership was the talk on advocacy, that is how the leaders can speak up or draw the attention of the general public and local government officials about an issue or problem that affects the community, or try to influence policy-makers in favor of a specific cause.

This was then followed by a talk on community mobilization that uses campaigns and information drive as forms of advocacy.         Workshops then followed the lectures  where the participants brainstormed on  issues currently affecting the organization and how these can be addressed in terms of a campaign and advocacy for support from government officials to address these issues.
