Dutch Students Internship

The Women’s Resource Center of Visayas, Inc. is currently hosting the internship of two
Dutch students from the HAN University of Applied Sciences in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
Marijn Kamminga, a third year student in International Social Work started his internship on
September 10, 2023 and shall end on February 19, 2024. Gite de Bruin, a third year nursing
student started her internship on September 4, 2023 and ends on December 15, 2023. Their
internship was facilitated by the Philippine Knowledge and Activity Center in the Netherlands
represented by Evert de Boer who made the arrangements with WRCV early this year.

The two students had their community integration with the four women’s organizations in
Tungkop, Tungkil, Tulay and Calajoan in Minglanilla.

Their internship aimed to understand the situation of the women members in these areas,
particularly their political, economic and cultural context, problems, needs and struggles.
The students conducted a survey on selected families, their economic, health profile,
physical environment and sanitation, and socio-cultural profiles.

They also made interviews regarding the residents’ experiences on violence against women, their stand on the impending Minglanilla Reclamation Project, and their contributions to their organizations. The results of the study will be presented to the four women’s organizations and measures will be discussed
that will address these issues. The interns are also expected to participate in the endeavors of the women’s organizations in the communities.
