Celebration of the National Women’s Month in Minglanilla

The Women’s Resource Center of Visayas Inc. and the four partner women’s
organizations in Minglanilla were instrumental in planning the activities of the National
Women’s Month celebration in Minglanilla. The celebration was marked by a trade fair in the
Municipality Plaza on March 29 to 31, 2023 which displayed handicrafts of bags and pouches
recycled from used fabrics and sacks of rice grits which are products of the livelihood project of
the Tungkop Women’s Organization, and food products of the Tungkil, Calajoan and Tulay
Women’s Organizations.


A free clinic conducted by personnel of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Minglanilla was
also held which was highlighted with a screening for cervical cancers using the Visual Inspection
with Acetic Acid, a naked-eye examination of the uterine cervix after application of 5 % acetic
acid and interpreting the result after one minute. Cervical precancerous lesions take on a white
colour.

Our women members also availed of free HIV testing and HPV vaccination conducted by
the RHU. WRCV Executive Director Sarah A. Dayoha and Project Coordinator Dr. Erlinda Posadas
gave a talk on Republic Act No. 9262 or Anti-Violence against Women Law and Republic Act No.
9710 or the Magna Carta of Women, on March 30, 2023 and March 31, 2023, respectively,
during two separate gatherings of the women in the Municipality Plaza. A total of 198
participants listened to the talk of Ms. Dayoha and a total of 168 participants to the talk of Dr.
Posadas.
