Vendors in the Carbon Market Unit 2 Interim Building which had previously occupied theFreedom Park and Warwick Barracks whose stalls were demolished in July 2022 as part of the ongoingCarbon Public Market Redevelopment continued to complain about their hardships as their sales havenot picked up after their relocation and they suffered losses as they have to pay weekly rental fees.Nevertheless, they are still hopeful that they will eventually be able to recover.
In the meantime, the Cebu2World Development Inc. (C2W) had made a publicannouncement last February 28, 2023 that the construction of the new and modern CarbonPublic Market is expected to roll out soon. The C2W is a subsidiary of Megawide ConstructionCorp. which had signed a joint venture agreement with the Cebu City Government for theproject. An official of the C2W said that they are processing all necessary permits for theconstruction to proceed.
