An Assembly of women leaders in Cebu organized by the Women’s Resource Center of Cebu,
Inc. was held on March 22, 2023 in the light of the celebration of March as the National Women’s
Month. It was held in the Aula Magna Pilgrim Center of the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino de Cebu.
The gathering was participated in by 52 women leaders coming from 12 women’s organizations
in Cebu City and the Province of Cebu including the four organizations in Minglanilla, three sitio-based
organizations in San Fernando and two organizations in Cebu City.
The assembly discussed through workshops followed by a plenary session about various issues
affecting their communities including the impending Minglanilla Reclamation Project, the proposed
Cebu City Government socialized housing project, the high cost of living and rising prices of basic commodities, the status of their organizations including number of members, and their recent and
upcoming activities.
Finally, the assembly made a collective and firm stand to continue strengthening
their organizations and expanding their membership and collectively work together to address any
government projects that shall threaten their housing and livelihood.
