The Women’s Resource Center of Visayas, Inc. launched an assembly of women leaders on June 24, 2023 in the Franciscans Renewal Center in Minglanilla. The summit was attended by 72 leaders of its seven partner women’s organizations. The assembly had workshops followed by a plenary session about various issues affecting their communities including the impending Minglanilla Reclamation Project, Carbon Market Development, Cebu City South Coastal Urban Development (SCUD) housing project, the high cost of living and rising prices of basic commodities. It was an excellent venue where our project partner women’s organizations interacted with each other and shared about their situations.
They realized that they have common issues that they should collectively work together to address. The assembly also discussed about the status of their organizations including number of members, and their recent and upcoming activities.
Finally, the assembly made a collective and firm stand to continue strengthening their organizations and expanding their membership and collectively work together to address any government projects that shall threaten their housing and livelihood.
