Three women’s organizations start detergent powder business

Three women’s organizations in Barangay South Poblacion, San Fernando have started a livelihood  project on detergent powder production last October 15, 2022.

The Sitio Lower Luknay Women’s Organization, Sitio Lawis Women’s Organization and Sitio Pantalan Women’s Organization which were all organized by the Women’s Resource Center of Visayas, Inc. this year, have started on a small scale project on making detergent powder and selling the products to their community residents.

A start up capital which was provided by the WRCV was used to buy the equipment and raw materials.  This included the following, namely, soda ash, linear alkyl benzine sulfuric acid (LABS),  STPP – Sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP), sodium sulfate, CFAS – coco fatty acid powder  (CFAS), speckles, and Downy, a digital weighing scale, plastics to wrap the products, water, and scotch tape to seal the product.

The products were packed at 50 grams of detergent powder and were sold by the members to their fellow community residents with a minimal profit of 2 pesos to make a retail price of P 6.00.   The sales were then pooled back to be the capital to purchase more raw materials and produce more products and have more sales. In time, when the market expands and the project becomes successful, the organizations plan to apply for a grant for a detergent powder livelihood program with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) since they can avail of it, having already acquired Certificates of Registration from the government agency last August.
