Stress management trainings conducted

Stress management trainings were conducted in June 2021 by the Women’s Resource Center of Visayas, Inc. (WRCV) for members of the women’s organizations.  The trainings provided the participants with the knowledge and skills on how to cope with stress in dealing with personal problems and issues related with economic, health, and security of land tenure issues, among others.

Resource person Irish Grace Ramirez, a nurse, discussed extensively about the Community Resiliency Model as a tool to cope with stress.  The CRM is a wellness initiative created by the Trauma Resource Institute.  It uniquely provides a non-judgmental perspective on normal human reactions to stress or trauma and encourages people to pass the skills along to their family, friends and wider communities.

The primary focus of this skills-based model is to reset the nervous system’s natural balance.  CRM skills help people understand their nervous system and learn to track sensations connected to their well-being. Using the wisdom of their own bodies, people experience rapid relief from stress-related symptoms, as well as an increased sense of control over future wellness.            During the trainings, workshops were conducted where the participants were made to identify their stressors and the effects of stress on their lives.  Then they were taught to practice the six wellness skills, namely: tracking, grounding, resourcing, gesturing, shift and stay and help now!   The participants realized that using these skills would bring their  bodies, minds and spirits back into a state of balance.
