Livelihood projects have also been sustained by the women’s organizations in
Minglanilla. They have recently learned that the Cebu Provincial Government shall give them
10 sacks of rice for each of the women’s organizations in Minglanilla. They shall sell the rice in
retail basis for a cost that is cheaper than the market price. During their monthly meetings, the
members specifically the officers and the livelihood committees threshed out how to comply
with the documents needed to avail of the livelihood business including having bank accounts.
The sacks of rice to be donated by the Cebu Provincial Government are in addition to
their existing rice retailing business. The profit will be distributed to the members in December
and will be used to aid sick members.


In Calajoan, the women’s organization has established a women’s center where they
manage their retailing rice business. Putting up a center for the rice business is a requirement
of the Cebu Provincial Government before it will donate the sacks of rice.
In Tungkop, the organization’s communal gardens of vegetables have already borne
harvests which were sold by the organization and have generated profits already.
The weaving of handicrafts and recycled bags and pouches of the Tungkop Women’s
Organization has also expanded to the rest of the other 19 barangays in Minglanilla after the
puroks coordinators and the Minglanilla Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council
showed interest to have the WRCV conduct skills trainings for them In South Poblacion, San Fernando, the three sitio-based women’s organizations have continued the livelihood project of detergent powder business which was started last October 2022.
In Cebu City, the Sawang Calero Women’s Organization has also continued the same
livelihood project making and selling detergent powder.
In the same way, the Calajoan Women’s Organization has also pursued the detergent
powder business with capital from kind individuals solicited by the Social Work interns doing
their community internship there last June 2023.
