There were three monthly women leaders meetings of the seven organizations on July
to September 2023. The first was held on July 31 in Tungkil where the leaders shared updates
of their respective organizations. The second was held on August 15, 2023 in Calajoan where a
resource person, Atty. Breden Arcayos of the National Union of Lawyers of the Philippines
(NUJP) enlightened the women about the women’s basic rights and common human rights
violations that are possibly committed by state forces.

The third women leaders meeting was held on September 16, 2023 in Tungkop with
another resource person, Paz V. Silva of the “Stop the Attacks Movement for Peace (STAMP)”
and a member of the WRCV Board of Trustees who discussed about the current trends of
harassment by state elements against human rights organizations, development organizations,
and progressive groups and individuals working for genuine change of the people.
In the last two meetings, the women leaders expressed their appreciation of being
enlightened regarding these national issues and expanding their awareness of the social
situation beyond their personal and community concerns
